Art Camp

During the summer vacation I went to an art camp for one week. That does not include Sunday and Saturday.

We made mud cloths, peacocks, dragons, flowers and flags. We made the flowers and the flags out of tissue paper. We made the peacock feathers out of coloured sheets that were crumpled up with dye on them. We made the body and the beak out of paper. We made the eyes with markers. We made the dragon out of cups that were shaped like cones. We coloured them for the body. We cut out legs and hands from paper. For the tail of the dragon we put streamers. Finally, we made the mud cloths out of wrinkled brown paper with paint on it. We painted the shape of an animal or person on it.

I liked the art camp and am looking forward to the next one I am going to.

My major illness

One night my neck was hurting. In the morning Daddy took me to the doctor. They told us to go to a hospital. I was lying down in the ER without having any water for almost the whole day. Then I was taken to where I was supposed to be for the rest of the visit. They gave me a blood test where the doctor pokes a straw into your skin and they put a white cover so you won't look at it and they tape it onto your body so it won't fall off. I was lying in bed for three days. Daddy was reading to me. We finished the Island of Adventure. I did some painting in the hospital and I played video games that were available there. The game was Captain America and the Avengers. You are supposed to fight the bad guys. Y is to punch. A is to shoot a laser. B is to jump.

Going to Borders

We went to Borders book store. My dad made me wait a short time in the computer section. We went to drink water in the cafeteria. Then we went to the kids section and I looked at Magic Tree House books. I thought of taking #24 and #14 but I didn't. Instead, I picked up only #13. Then my dad made me look at other books. I picked up a series about fantasy. The book I picked up was Knights of the Round Table. Then I looked again for some Ninja Turtle picture books that I found in the same aisle. I went to my dad and asked him if we could take one of these. He looked at them and said ok. I counted the money that we had to pay if we got all the stuff. I took away the Ninja Turtle book because it was too much money. Then I tried to find other books we could take away but I couldn't. We looked at the little harder books. We found interesting books. One was Egyptology. The other one was Dragonology. One was How Amazing. The last one was a Mary Pope Osborne book that I read the name of the series. It was called The Mysteries of Spider Kane. There were two stories in the book. One was Spider Kane and the Mystery Under the May-Apple. The other was Spider Kane and the Mystery at Jumbo Nightcrawlers. We picked it up.

Robotics competition

Thank you everyone for your comments. I like them a lot.

I went to the robotics competition on Saturday after my swimming class. We saw a game of basketball except for it was not like NBA games. There were some people throwing balls into robots. The robots would take the balls and shoot them into the basket. Some high school kids built robots for this competition.

[note from Jay: This was a competition for high school students from this area. The robots were constructed by a team from each school. Operated by remote control, they had to pick up balls from the floor, manoeuvre around the court and shoot the ball into a net. They played games in teams. During the game they would also try and push opponents out of the way. Here is a write-up from a local newspaper.]

Climbing rope at gymnastics

I climbed up the rope in gymnastics for the first time. I was so happy. I got something from the treasure box. It was a bouncy ball. It can bounce on carpet and tile and it looks like there is a tornado in it.
